To make karak chai with instant premix, add the premix to a cup, pour in freshly boiled water and stir for a few seconds. That is it – no pan, no straining and no fresh milk. Below you will find the exact steps, plus how to make iced karak, a flask for guests and tips to get it just right.
What you need
- Chai Karak instant premix – for example Karak Chai
- Freshly boiled water
- A mug and a spoon
How to make a hot cup of karak chai (step by step)
- Add the premix. Put a heaped serving of premix into your mug. Use a little more for a stronger, creamier cup.
- Add hot water. Pour in freshly boiled water, leaving a little space at the top.
- Stir well. Stir for 10–15 seconds until smooth, with no lumps.
- Taste and adjust. Add more premix for strength, or if you use unsweetened premix, add sugar to taste.
How to make iced karak chai
- Make the chai slightly stronger than usual, using a little less hot water.
- Stir until fully dissolved.
- Fill a glass with ice and pour the chai over it.
- Stir and serve straight away.
How to make karak chai for guests
For a family gathering or office meeting, mix the premix with boiled water in a jug, stir well and pour into a flask to keep warm. Set out a few flavours – Kashmiri Pink always impresses guests – and let everyone choose. For larger events, ask about chai vending machine hire.
Tips for the perfect cup
- Use freshly boiled water – it dissolves the premix fully and gives a creamier finish.
- Stir, then stir again – most lumpy cups are just under-stirred.
- Adjust strength with premix, not time – unlike tea bags, premix is ready instantly.
- Store packs sealed in a cool, dry cupboard to keep the premix free-flowing.
- Try other flavours – Masala, Cardamom, Ginger, Lemongrass, Karak Coffee and Hot Chocolate are all made the same way.
Sweetened or unsweetened premix?
Sweetened premix gives you the classic sweet karak taste with no extra steps. Unsweetened premix is best if you prefer less sugar or like to use your own sweetener. Every Chai Karak flavour is available both ways in 400g and 850g packs.
